The first Congress on Translational Anesthesiology, along with the first specialized Tech-Market in Anesthesiology, was held on April 23–24, 2025 (Ordibehesht 4–5, 1404) at Imam Khomeini Hall, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. The event focused on integrating anesthesiology with applicable technologies and innovations.
According to the Public Relations Office of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Ali Dabbagh, the scientific secretary of the congress, stated that this event represents an innovative step in transforming the field of anesthesiology. He emphasized that the rapid evolution of medical science and modern technologies necessitates the establishment of effective communication channels between scientific research, industry, and the healthcare system.

The professor of anesthesiology added that this is a unique event in Iran and the region, combining a scientific congress with a specialized tech-market.
He explained that the congress aims to merge anesthesiology with cutting-edge technologies and practical innovations. Translational anesthesiology, he said, is a dynamic new field that emphasizes the rapid transfer of scientific findings to clinical practice, aiming to improve procedures in the operating room and intensive care settings.
Dr. Dabbagh noted that the congress will discuss the latest scientific advances, including the application of artificial intelligence in anesthesiology, the development of smart drugs, digital twins in anesthesia, regenerative medicine in anesthesia, pain and critical care, new imaging techniques, and strategies for optimizing patient safety.
What distinguishes this congress from other scientific events, he said, is the simultaneous hosting of the first specialized anesthesiology tech-market. This platform creates a unique opportunity for direct interaction between researchers, startups, knowledge-based companies, hospitals, and health sector investors.

The scientific secretary added that the anesthesiology tech-market is designed to identify, introduce, and support novel technologies in anesthesia and critical care. The congress serves as an ideal platform for commercializing scientific achievements, transferring technologies, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations.
The head of the Anesthesiology Research Center at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences further explained that this combined event—featuring both translational anesthesiology and a specialized tech-market—highlights the role of advanced technologies such as AI and biomaterials in anesthesiology. It includes the participation of prominent international experts from leading countries in anesthesiology and health technologies, provides opportunities for medical equipment and anesthetic drug startups, promotes convergence between industry, academia, and the healthcare system, and features workshops on anesthesiology and innovation with an interdisciplinary research approach focused on anesthesia, pain, and critical care.

According to the university’s public relations office, the congress was attended by researchers, anesthesiologists, technologists, knowledge-based companies, and enthusiasts of medical innovation.
